Single Beds, Types and how to choose them

Why choose a single bed when there are loads of other options that you can choose from? With cramped up rooms and the need to make space in our homes, a single bed is always a wise option. Why choose a double bed when a single bed serves you the same purpose. With a single bed your room will not only look bigger but you will have much more space to walk about in.

How do you differentiate between the types of single beds? If you begin looking for one, you will be amazed at the different types of single beds that furniture makers usually sell. It is easy to get lost if you know nothing about single beds. The reason why you need to know the kind of bed you’re choosing is so that you choose the right one to fit your needs. You don’t need a bed that is totally out of space and its dimensions don’t suit your requirement.

If you are looking at storage ability then even single beds will allow you to store all your bedroom tidbits and furnishings. Lets look at some of the single beds types that most manufactures design and manufacture but you don’t know much about.

The Twin Beds: Converse to what it sounds like the twin bed is infact a singles bed that is excellent for small sized rooms. However it is not big enough for adults to sleep in. This bed is the best bet for children and is usually quite narrow so that it can fit even into the smallest dimension bedroom. The twin bed is what most that have kids would love to opt for, since it has a trundle below it and can be rolled out so that a second kid or a guest could be accommodated in it. The standard dimensions of a twin bed are usually around 39” wide x 75” long.

Twin Extra Long bed: This is what you would see in colleges and dormitories. These beds are usually 5 inches longer than the length of the twin bed. It is excellent for teenagers and mid sized adults, and since it is narrow it fits excellently into any kind of bedroom. The normal dimensions of a twin extra long bed are 39” wide x 80” long.

Single beds also come manufactured in various materials for instance wood, metal or even a combination of both. Most prefer to choose ones that are made of wood like teak or oak and even rubber wood since their hinges do not squeak like the ones made of metal. Choosing a single bed of the right material is important as well. If you don’t mind a high maintenance bed where you might need to polish it every few years, then a wooden frame singles bed is the best option. Wooden singles bed also give a warm natural glow to any kind of bedroom. You could also choose single beds that are made of metal and are not that difficult to maintain.
